1. Ways to modify a task
You can update task details across various views in Scoro depending on the level of change required. While many views allow for quick adjustments to status or deadlines, the task modify view remains the primary destination for editing a task's full details and settings.
1.1. In the task modify view
Use the task modify view if you need to make comprehensive changes to the task. You can access it from the task detailed view by clicking the Modify button.
You can navigate to the task modify view from other Scoro views as well, such as the task list:
- Hover the cursor over the icon next to the task's name.
- The icon will change to a pencil icon – click it to open the task modify view.
1.2. In the task detailed view
The task detailed view lets you make quick changes to your task, such as:
- delegate the task to users and roles (if role assignment is enabled on your site)
- add time entries
- change the status or mark the task as done
- add subtasks (if your site uses subtasks)
- add comments and files
- ...and more!
For more guidance on modifying a task in the detailed view, see our Task detailed view article.
1.3. In the task list and other views
You don't always need to open the task's detailed or modify view to edit it. For faster, day-to-day updates, you can make some changes in various views in Scoro:
- Task list: Delegate tasks, add time entries, mark tasks as done, and modify multiple tasks at once from the task list. Learn more.
- Task board: Change task statuses and time frames, and open the task modify view directly from the task board. Learn more.
- Planner: Delegate and schedule your team's work on tasks. Learn more.
2. Modifying tasks from the task modify view
The task modify view is similar to the task creation view, and you can modify the task details there the same way as when adding a task. Here are a few things you can do in the task modify view when modifying an existing task:
2.1. Convert a task to an event
Use the Convert to event button to convert a task to a calendar event. This can be useful if the task needs to be handled on a specific day and at a specific time. Once converted, the task will be removed from the task list, and an event with the same details will be added to the calendar.
2.2. Move a task to a different project
To move a task to a different project:
- Open the task modify view.
- In the Project field, remove the current selected project and select the project you want to move the task to.
Note! Subtasks cannot be moved to another parent task at the moment; however, you can move the time entries to another task if needed.
2.3. Deleting a task
Users can delete their own tasks. However, tasks assigned by others can only be deleted by users with the Delete tasks assigned by others permission in their permission set.
To delete a task:
- In the task detailed view, click the Modify button to open the task modify view.
- Click Delete and confirm your choice.
Deleting a parent task also deletes all its subtasks. This doesn't happen right after clicking the Delete button – Scoro will prompt you to confirm the deletion, so you don't accidentally delete the parent and its subtasks.
If you deleted a task by accident, don't worry - site administrators can restore deleted tasks within 30 days of deletion from the Activity log:
- Go to Settings > Administration > Activity log.
- Click on the name of the activity.
- Click Restore.
3. Frequently asked questions
Can I merge multiple tasks into one task?
No, it is not possible to merge tasks at the moment.
Can I move all time entries from one task to another?
Currently, there is no button to quickly transfer all time entries from one task to another. You can do either of the following:
- Move the task with all the time entries to another project and modify the task as needed
- Add the same time entries to the other task, then delete them from the original task (this can be done one by one only).
Can I convert a subtask into a parent task?
Yes, you can convert subtasks to parent tasks from the task list. Learn more.
