1. Overview of the Stripe integration
1.1. How payment collection works
Here's how the payment collection works with the Stripe integration:
- First, you need to connect your Stripe account with Scoro. If you don’t have a Stripe account yet, you can create one directly via Scoro. Make sure you familiarize yourself with Stripe’s pricing beforehand.
- Once your Stripe account is connected, you can add a payment link placeholder to your invoice PDF and e-mail templates.
- Scoro will now generate a payment link for every regular invoice (other Scoro invoice types are not supported) you issue with the respective templates. Your clients can instantly pay the invoice online via the link using the card, wallet, or bank options (depending on the payment methods you've enabled in Stripe).
- Payment information is synced with Scoro as soon as the transfer is made. The respective invoice is automatically marked as paid in Scoro.
You can disconnect from Stripe and remove the payment links at any time. Note that any invoices you have already sent out with the payment link will still include it, even if you disconnect Stripe.
1.2. Benefits of Stripe and online payments
- Instant payment collection. Giving your clients the possibility to pay their invoice conveniently online optimizes the payment flow, resulting in fewer obstacles and delays. Clients can instantly make the payment from any device, at any place, at any time – meaning money arrives in your account faster than ever before.
- Automated data entry. All payments made via Stripe are automatically synced back to Scoro, and respective invoices are marked as paid. This eliminates the need for any additional manual steps and reduces the risk of human error.
- Reduced processing costs. You eliminate the need to go through several processors and let Stripe do the heavy lifting for you instead. Stripe offers a simple pay-as-you-go pricing model, which means you don’t have to worry about monthly or annual fees; you simply pay a small flat-rate processing fee per transaction.
- Borderless payments. Stripe supports a variety of payment methods, such as credit cards, digital wallets, bank redirects, etc., which make it easy to grow globally. Payment method preferences vary from country to country, but with Stripe, you can accept many popular payment methods with just a single integration.
- Industry-standard. By now, people fully expect to be able to pay their invoices online. Adding an online payment link to your invoices helps meet those client expectations and boost client satisfaction.
1.3. Known limitations
- Only regular invoices: At the moment, the Stripe payment process is available only for regular invoices.
- Single third-party platform connection: Stripe's single Platform connection policy prevents the same Stripe account from being connected to more than one third-party platform simultaneously. For example, if you have already connected Xero via Stripe Connect, you cannot connect Scoro to Stripe. Learn more about connecting a Stripe account to a third-party platform.
- Payment method management: While the Stripe integration settings page in Scoro lets you enable bank debit payments, other payment methods, such as 'Buy Now, Pay Later,' can be managed in Stripe's settings. Head to Stripe's Help Center for more information.
2. Connecting Stripe with Scoro
To connect Stripe with Scoro:
- Go to Settings > Site settings > Integrations and click on Stripe.
- Click the Connect Stripe button, then choose either Connect with an existing Stripe account or Create a new Stripe account.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to finalize your account details (if you're creating a new account).
3. Configuring the integration
Once you've connected your account, you can configure the integration settings by enabling bank debit payments and adding your e-mail and invoice templates with the payment link.
3.1. Enabling bank debit payments
Switch on the Enable bank debits toggle to allow your customers to pay invoices by bank debit payment. This is a common and convenient payment method for many customers, helping you get paid for your services faster. Bank debits also minimize the risk of payment failures and incur lower processing fees.
3.2. Adding payment links to invoice PDF templates
To allow your customers to pay via Stripe right from the invoice PDF, you'll need to update your invoice PDF templates. To do this, select all the templates you want to update with the payment link and click Add the payment link.
Once done, Scoro will automatically add the payment link to each template after the price calculation table. If the invoice template doesn’t include a price calculation table, the link will be placed at the end of the main content section.
Note! This modification will change the respective invoice templates for all users.

This modification will change the respective invoice templates for all users.
If you want more control over the look or the placement of the link, you can modify your invoice PDF templates manually:
- Click Modify template to open the template modify view.
- Navigate to the Main content tab.
- In the editor, click right where you'd like to show the payment link on your invoice.
- Insert a dynamic field by selecting Invoice and choosing the payment options you want to add and their style:
- If you've enabled bank debit payments, select Stripe payment button group to add all payment options - Card, Wallet, Bank - to the invoice. If you haven't enabled them, only the Card and Wallet buttons will be added.
- If you've enabled bank debit payments, select Stripe payment button group to add all payment options - Card, Wallet, Bank - to the invoice. If you haven't enabled them, only the Card and Wallet buttons will be added.
- You can add any text you'd like before or after the payment link/button(s). When ready, save the changes.
Here's an example of how each Stripe payment dynamic field would look on an invoice.
Once you've saved the changes, whenever you compile an invoice with that template, the invoice will include the payment link/buttons that your clients can use to pay it instantly online.
Note! The Pay now link/button(s) won't be shown if the invoice is already paid.
3.3. Adding payment links to e-mail templates
You can also add the payment link to your invoicing e-mails. If you have multiple e-mail templates you want to update, you'll need to modify them one by one.
Note! This modification affects only your e-mails.
To insert the payment link into an invoice e-mail:
- Click Modify template to modify the specific e-mail template.
- Click in the Invoice e-mail template editor right where you'd like to show the payment link in the e-mail.
- Insert a dynamic field by selecting Invoice and choosing the payment options you want to add and their style:
- If you've enabled bank debit payments, select Stripe payment button group to add all payment options - Card, Wallet, Bank - to the e-mail. If you haven't enabled them, only the Card and Wallet buttons will be added.
- If you've enabled bank debit payments, select Stripe payment button group to add all payment options - Card, Wallet, Bank - to the e-mail. If you haven't enabled them, only the Card and Wallet buttons will be added.
- You can add any text you'd like before or after the payment link/button(s).
Here's an example of how each Stripe payment link/button style would look on an e-mail.
Now, whenever you send an invoice using that e-mail template, the e-mail will include the payment link/button(s) you selected, and your clients can use to pay it instantly online.
Note! The Pay now link/button(s) won't be shown if the invoice is already paid.
4. Completed payments
Whenever someone pays the invoice via the Pay now link/button, this information will be synced back to Scoro, automatically marking the invoice as paid. Any resulting payment processing fees will be indicated on the invoice.
If you want an overview of which invoices have been paid via Stripe and therefore include payment fees, you can add a Payment fee column to your invoice list view under View > Data columns.
You can also apply a separate Payment fee filter to show only invoices with payment processing fees or without them.
If you're having any trouble with the setup or would like us to set the payment links up for you, simply reach out to us via our contact form.
5. Payment processing fees
Stripe uses a pay-as-you-go approach to pricing, which means you don’t have to worry about monthly or annual fees; you simply pay a flat-rate fee per transaction.
For card payments, the exact fee varies based on the card’s country of issue. You can see the detailed breakdown of Stripe fees here.
| Card type | Stripe processing fee | Scoro processing fee |
| EEA cards | 1.4% + 0.25 € | 0.2–0.4% |
| UK cards | 2.5% + 0.25€ | 0.2–0.4% |
| Non-EEA and non-UK cards | 2.9% + 0.25€ + additional 2% for currency conversion |
0.2–0.4% |
For bank debit payments, the Scoro processing fee per transaction is 0.4%, but not more than 5 €.
