Users need permission to view the revenue report. Here’s how to enable it for them:
- Go to Settings > Administration > Permission sets
- Choose the permission set you want to update and open the Modules and actions
- Scroll down to the Reports section and tick the View revenue report checkbox
Users with this particular permission set can now access the revenue report in the Reports module under Reports > Financial > Revenue report.
2. How to read the revenue report
You can find the revenue report in Reports > Financial > Revenue report.
The revenue report is based on quotes and projects, but it does not include invoices.
The Revenue report will help you get answers to questions such as:
- How much revenue have we generated?
- How much revenue are we guaranteed over the coming months?
- How much potential revenue do we have in the pipeline?
2.1. Grouping the data
By default, the data is grouped by Projects | Quotes. However, if you track your revenue per account, grouping the data by clients will let you see better how much business each of your accounts is bringing in and how the accounts are progressing over time.
2.2. Filters
You can filter the report based on source (quotes, projects, or both), project status, quote status, and date range.
- If you select "quotes" as the source, the report will display the forecasted revenue that you can expect to earn based on the quotes that are in your sales pipeline.
- If you select "projects" as the source, the report will show you the total revenue data based on the Revenue row in the project Revenue subtab.
You can also filter the report by the responsible party or client.
- Responsible party - for quotes, it's the quote author. For projects, it’s the project manager. This filter enables you to analyze how much revenue specific people are bringing in or have in their pipeline.
- Client - this filter is helpful if you want to understand how a particular client contributes to your revenue.
Examples

- Source: Projects
- Project status: Active projects
- Date range: the next six months
How much potential revenue do we have in the pipeline?

2.3. View settings
You can change the View settings for the report according to your needs. For example, you can sort the quote and project list below the graph from newest or oldest or vice versa.
You can also choose to Use weighted values for quotes if you want to take into account the quotes' closing probability as well.
Weighted values are calculated using the probability percentage assigned to each quote status in your pipeline.
If you tick that option, the report will factor in the closing probability of each quote and adjust the forecasted numbers accordingly.
Example
For example, let’s say you have submitted two quotes for Client X in the first six months of 2024:
- Quote 43 in the Scoping status (50%)
- Full value: EUR 9,000
- Weighted value: 9,000 x 0.5 = EUR 4,500
- Quote 44 in the Proposal status (80%)
- Full value: EUR 9,000
- Weighted value: 3,000 x 0.8 = EUR 7,200
To generate a report on the revenue you can expect to receive from "Client X" between January 2024 and June 2024, apply the following filters:
- Source: Quotes
- Quote status: Active quotes
- Client: Client X
- Time period: 01.01.2024 to 30.06.2024
As the two quotes are not confirmed yet, and you want to factor in their pipeline status while forecasting your revenue, tick the Use weighted values for quotes option.
The report now considers the probability of each quote being accepted and its current status in your pipeline to show you an updated revenue forecast.
Accurate and well-informed revenue forecasting and recognition are essential for businesses to achieve sustainable growth and success. It enables companies to monitor their financial performance, evaluate profitability, and confidently plan for the future.
