Rounding discrepancies in document line item totals between Scoro and Xero can occur due to subtle differences in how each system calculates the line item totals and tax amounts. These differences may lead to synchronization errors indicating that the total sums between Scoro and Xero do not match.
This article will show which settings you can enable in Scoro to prevent common value-rounding differences and the resulting sync errors.
1. Line item rounding differences
If you use fractional values for the Quantity or Unit price and the resulting line item amount has multiple decimal places, a total sum mismatch error can occur during sync. One example where this may happen is when you enter 20 or 40 minutes, which is registered in Scoro as 0.3333 or 0.6667 hours.
The rounding mismatch happens because both Scoro and Xero calculate final line totals independently using unit price and quantity. When fractional quantities are rounded to standard decimal limits in each system, calculated subtotals can differ and fail total match validations.
To prevent line item rounding differences between Scoro and Xero:
- Go to Settings > Site settings > Integrations > Xero.
- Enable the Prevent rounding difference in documents toggle.
- (Optional) If you need quantity and price details visible in Xero for tracking or transparency, enable the Send over original price and quantity in the document toggle (this setting becomes available once the toggle in Step 2 is enabled). Save the changes.
Once enabled, Scoro simplifies the calculation data sent to Xero by passing the exact line sum calculated in Scoro with a quantity of 1. This prevents Xero from recalculating line totals using fractional quantities or discounts. If you also enable Include original quantity and price, Scoro sends the original quantity and unit price to Xero for display while keeping the simplified calculation logic active.
2. Tax rounding differences
If you use tax rates with multiple decimal places, such as 14.752%, or composite tax rates common in Canada or the UK, across multiple document lines, the total sums may differ in Scoro and Xero, resulting in an error. This discrepancy happens because Scoro calculates tax amounts for each line individually and then sums them up, whereas Xero calculates and rounds tax totals across lines differently.
To prevent tax rounding differences between Scoro and Xero:
- Go to Settings > Sales and finance > Tax rates.
- Enable the Round tax sums on lines up to two decimal points toggle. The changes are saved automatically.
Once enabled, Scoro rounds the tax amount on each individual line to two decimal places before syncing, aligning Scoro’s tax calculation logic with Xero’s requirements.
Note! Toggling this setting automatically applies the updated tax rounding logic to newly created documents. For already existing documents, just enabling the Round tax sums on lines up to two decimal points toggle won’t automatically recalculate the tax rates. To apply the rounded tax sums on an existing document, open the document modify view and then save it. This will trigger the tax recalculation, and the document should sync without any errors.
