Note! Subtasks are being rolled out gradually to Scoro sites in February. Check the Rollout plan section in our latest release notes to see when subtasks may be available for your site.
You can easily convert multiple subtasks to parent tasks at once directly from the task list. This is useful if you:
- Need to restructure your project plan: Quickly turn multiple subtasks into parent tasks without modifying them individually.
- Are switching to the 'Without subtasks' work planning option: Since Scoro requires all subtasks to be cleared before making that switch, you can convert them to parent tasks to keep your data and time logs intact.
How to convert subtasks to parent tasks
To convert multiple subtasks to parent tasks at once:
- Navigate to the Tasks module to open the task list.
- Filter the list view – select 'Subtasks' in the Task type filter, and apply any other filters to find the subtasks you want to convert.
If you are converting all subtasks on your site to switch to the Without subtasks work planning option, ensure you've filtered out all users and done and not done tasks to capture every subtask on your site. Consider whether some of these subtasks can be deleted rather than converted. - Select the subtasks you want to convert by ticking the checkboxes next to them on the left. An additional bar with bulk actions will appear.
- Click the Convert to parent tasks button in the bulk action bar and confirm your choice.
Once you've confirmed the conversion:
- The selected subtasks will become regular tasks with the link to their original parent task removed, allowing you to add subtasks under them.
- All other data – including links to projects, contacts, quotes, comments, and time entries – that was previously on that subtask remains intact.
If your goal was to switch over to the Without subtasks work planning option, you can now go to Settings > Work and projects > Work planning and update your configuration.
