Revenue, profit, and forecast columns
WIP report data columns related to revenue, profit, and forecasting:
Project profit – invoice revenue - total cost.
-
Forecasted profit – calculated by subtracting forecasted cost from the forecasted revenue. Here's how it's adjusted based on the project's revenue model:
Fixed fee and Time & Material capped: If your team logs or plans for excess hours, your costs will rise while your forecasted revenue remains capped, resulting in a drop in your forecasted profit.
- Time & Material uncapped: Since every planned or logged hour increases both your costs and your billable revenue, your forecasted profit scales dynamically while preserving healthy margins.
Forecasted cost – total forecasted cost at completion.
-
Forecasted revenue – displays the following depending on the project's revenue model:
- Fixed fee: The locked, flat-fee contract budget
- Time & Material capped: Total of done and planned work, with the total automatically capped at the budget ceiling if your team has planned more hours than the contract allows
- Time & Material uncapped: Total done and planned work, uncapped
-
Earned revenue – revenue from the completed work so far. It's the same value as the Earned column under the Budget tab > Profit sub-tab of the project detailed view.
- Formula: internally logged hours (including past scheduled time entries) × selling price (role price on role-priced projects) + outsourced services that are already invoiced.
- For projects with a fixed fee and Time & Material capped revenue model, the earned revenue is capped at the quote/budget.
Earned revenue (capped) – Revenue so far based on logged time and selling price, capped at the budget once reached. Outsourced services are included once invoiced to the client.
-
Progress-based revenue – revenue calculated based on the efforts-expended method.
Formula: Budgeted income * Project progress %.
