To ensure that emails sent from Scoro will reach the recipient (e.g., when you’re sending quotes, invoices, purchase orders, and other documents to your clients), you can set up either of the following:
- Custom e-mail domain add-on - a paid add-on that lets the site administrator enable custom e-mail domains based on the site’s users’ email addresses. There’s a monthly fee for each custom domain you verify in your site’s settings.
- SMTP - a free setup alternative to the custom e-mail domain add-on that lets site admins set up the default SMTP settings for the site. Each site user also needs to fill in their SMTP login details in their email settings.
Note! Custom email domain is a paid add-on.
This article will walk you through the custom e-mail domain setup.
We have a separate article about setting up SMTP.

1. Overview of the custom email domain setup
The custom email domain add-on lets the site administrator verify custom domains based on the site’s users’ email addresses. By opting for this setup:
- Your site’s users won’t need to set up anything themselves, as they can simply select the email addresses with the verified domains when sending an email from Scoro
- The sent emails can also be seen in your email server
- You minimize the chance of sent emails being classified as spam.
You can verify multiple email domains for your site. As soon as you’ve set up and verified an email domain, a 5€ / $5.50 monthly fee per each domain will be added to your upcoming invoices. You will not be charged for the email domains you haven’t verified.
2. Setting up a custom email domain
Note! You need to be a site administrator to set up custom email domains for the site.
To set up custom email domains for your site:
- Go to Settings > Administration > email setup.
- The domains settings section will already list all the domains of your site’s users’ email addresses. Click the Verify button to set up a domain.
- Configure the domain settings to use for email authentication by entering the domain and selecting the region (EU or US), then click Continue.
- You’ll see the domain name records that need to be added to your domain’s DNS settings. You’ll need to copy these TXT type records and add them where you manage your domain - usually through your domain provider (like GoDaddy, Cloudflare, or others). Click the copy icon on the right side of the record value to copy it.
- If you’re not sure how to modify the DNS records, we recommend checking your domain provider’s Help Center for more information.
- Once you've updated your domain’s DNS records, go back to Scoro and click the Verify now button. The verification process can take some time - if the verification fails, wait a moment and try clicking the button again later.
Once the domain is successfully verified, the domain will show a green Verified authentication status, and all site users will be able to select their email address(es) with the verified domain when composing an email in Scoro.
3. Disabling the email domain verification
To disable an email domain you’ve verified:
- Hover over the verified domain row and click the gear icon on the right side of the row
- Click the trash icon to reset the verification.
Once done, the domain will show a red Unverified authentication status, and you won’t be charged for this custom domain further on.
We also recommend removing the TXT records you had added on your domain provider’s side to keep the records clean.
