Scoro allows you to export data from most list views, reports, and other views for further external analysis, record-keeping, or reporting.
While many views share a standard data export workflow, some modules have unique steps for exporting data. This article explains the exporting permissions and the general logic and prerequisites for exporting data across the platform.
For step-by-step instructions on exporting data from a specific Scoro module or report, please see the dedicated article for that feature.
1. Managing data export permissions
Data import and export permissions are controlled by permission sets. Site administrators can grant the relevant data import and export permissions this way:
- Go to Settings > Administration > Permission sets.
- Click on the permission set you want to update, then open Modules and actions.
-
Enable the following permissions as needed for the permission set you're modifying:
- Export data – allows users to export data from Scoro
- Import data – allows users to import data to Scoro
Other key things you need to know about data exporting rights:
Data visibility (view rights): The data included in your export file is limited by your viewing rights. For example, if your permission set restricts you to viewing only your own tasks, any export from the Tasks list will include only those tasks.
Feature-specific requirements: If a feature or report requires specific settings to be enabled, those settings must be active before the data can be viewed or exported.
2. Exporting data from Scoro
2.1. From list views
Most list views in Scoro – such as the task list, quote list, invoice list, contact list, and many others – have the same data exporting logic:
- Navigate to the list: Open the list view where you wish to export the data.
- Apply filters: Use the available filters to narrow down the results to the specific data set you need.
- Configure columns: The columns currently visible on your screen typically determine which data fields are included in the export file. Click on View > Data columns to add or remove columns as needed.
- Select the items: Tick the checkboxes on the left of the list items you want to export. An additional bar with bulk actions will appear.
- Export items: Click the Export button, select your preferred file format (CSV or XLS), and confirm your choice.
2.2. From reports
You can export data from almost all reports in Scoro.
Here are the general rules for exporting report data:
-
Selecting data to export: Some reports (like the detailed financial report and detailed work report) allow you to select specific data rows to include in the export file, while certain reports (like the time-off report) export all data within the filtered timeframe.
- Filtering the report view: The export file will reflect the filters, date ranges, groupings, and data columns currently applied to the report, in the order you've set. Always filter the report as needed before exporting the data, so that you always have exactly the data you need, and there's no need to clean up the export file before you can use it for further data analysis.

2.3. From other views
Data exporting in Scoro is not limited just to list views and reports – there are just a few of other views where you can download the data:
- Products and services: Export active and inactive products from your database. Learn more.
- Users: Site admins can export a list of users and their profile data. Learn more.
- Custom modules: Just like the work and financial reports, you can also export data from your custom modules, similar to how you'd export data from list views.
- Roles: Users with the Manage roles and Export data permissions can export the entire list of roles directly from the roles settings page. Learn more.
